1）此處mean表示“……意思是；意為”，用來(lái)解釋上句出現(xiàn)在書名中的習(xí)語(yǔ)的意思。再如：

此外，mean 還可以表示“意味著”的意思。如：
…before we have to make a decision that could mean life or death.
在我們不得不做出可能意味著生死的決定之前…
2）a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of 和 a decision that could mean life or death 均為定語(yǔ)從句。在前者中，從句that you cannot seem to get out of 修飾名詞situation;
在后者中，從句that could mean life or death 修飾decision。
